Traditional Umbrellas Workshop - July 21st
Today, we at Sails of Hope were privileged to host a unique charity umbrella-making workshop in Hangzhou. This event not only exposed the young participants to the charm of traditional Chinese umbrella culture but also contributed to raising public awareness about and Rare Disease.

At the start of the event, we prepared colorful umbrella frames and a variety of vibrant umbrella cloths for each young participant. Bursting with creativity, the children selected their favorite colors and patterns, skillfully combining the frames and fabrics. With guidance from instructors and volunteers, they crafted their very own unique umbrellas.
Throughout the umbrella-making process, we enabled the children to immerse themselves in the essence of traditional Chinese umbrella culture. We explained the art of umbrellas from various regions and the symbolism of the umbrella, sparking their interest in traditional culture. At the same time, we seized this opportunity to introduce them to the current state of patients with rare diseases, guiding them on how their actions can help improve the situation in their future.

The goal of this workshop was not merely to create umbrellas, but more importantly, to convey support and awareness for rare diseases through the activity. We encouraged the children to link their creations to rare diseases, allowing them to experience the power of charity in their crafting. They meticulously illustrated symbols and images related to rare diseases, sending blessings and encouragement to patients throughout society.
Through this event, we allowed the children to enjoy the process of umbrella-making and also instilled in them a sense of social responsibility and concern for the vulnerable. They came to view their creations as symbols of love, hoping that their small umbrellas could bring warmth and hope to the world.

We thank everyone who participated in this event; your enthusiasm and creativity made this activity even more splendid. We also express our gratitude to all the volunteers and staff for their hard work and dedication. Without your support and assistance, this event wouldn't have been such a success!
